Sri Penushila Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple

Location:

Panchalakona Kshetram, Rapur Mandal, Sri Potti Sri Ramulu Nellore District

Brief History of the Temple

The origin stories of Sri Penushila Lakshmi Narasimha Swami are not well-documented, but local lore tells a fascinating tale. It is believed that Lord Vishnu took the form of Narasimha to subdue Hiranyakashipu, roaming the forests to punish the wicked. During this journey, he encountered the daughter of the Chechura Raja, Chechulakshmi. While others fled in fear, she bravely stood her ground, capturing the affection of Narasimha. They were married, and he later manifested in a peaceful form.

This transformation is commemorated at the site with two stones symbolizing their union. It is also said that Lakshmi, the true consort of Vishnu, grew displeased and retreated to the opposite bank, where she is now worshipped as Adilakshmi.
